Writing my last blog, https://www.commonsenseamericanpolitics.com/its-a-mad-and-crazy-country-americans-live-in-today/, a few topics struck me as just insane. The more I read this week, the more issues have popped up that I need a follow up to that blog. We are living in a world that we’ve never seen before. Extremely politically polarizing. As a country, it doesn’t appear that we have no middle ground. It’s still a madder and crazier world Americans live in today compared to last week. Let’s touch base on other topics. Ready?
What Is Really Going on With the Coronavirus?
Day after day, we hear the coronavirus is reaching new numbers of infected people. But, today, we hear a story, that in Florida, health facilities are inflating their numbers around 90%. NINETY PERCENT!!! Almost all the tests are coming back positive. We hear every day that the rates are setting new highs of infection across the country. But we also get various news outlets reporting criteria used are overstating the numbers. I wish we could get just an unbiased account of really what’s going on. Too much political BS on a major health issue. When is China going to pay for this?
Places of Worship Are OK to Vandalize?
Catholic churches burnt and vandalized last weekend. Virgin Mary statues vandalized in Boston and New York. Protesters stopping parishioners from attending church. What happened to religious freedom in our country? Where is the outrage for damages to houses of worship? I don’t remember the Virgin Mary being a Confederate Slave owner in the South, do you? There was a time in this country that when a church was a sacred place. Now, it is just another place that becomes free to be attacked and desecrated. It’s also a place that people of all races are welcome. Why would you attack that if you are trying to bring everyone together? Maybe this isn’t about bringing us together but keeping us divided.
Replacing the National Anthem
A song representing what America has stood for and respected for hundreds of years needs replaced. Why? Because the “woke” or “cancel” culture wants to change it. They get offended. Francis Scott Key was a slave owner, and everything he had a part in should be wiped from the history books. We should replace this song with “Lean On Me” or the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. Huh? Who is deciding that? How about we keep a song that, when it’s played, all Americans stand up and support? Not just one race…all races. When we were all Americans. When we joined under one cause…to support our country. Maybe Francis Scott Key wasn’t perfect, but the song seems bind us (OK, most of us) together. How about we learn from our past and better our future?
It’s still a madder and crazier world Americans live in today. Sadly, it will probably be even more so next week. Madder and crazier. Hopefully, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully in November after the election.
